3rd lesson: WH-Questions and Response

Let's learn about WH-Questions and Response! 

At the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
1. To identify question words.
2. To comprehend the functions of WH-Questions and know how to response it.
3. Master this topic by answering exercises.

Here, we'll start our lesson by learning basic of this topic:


WH-QUESTIONS AND THEIR RESPONSE
1. WHAT 
  • Used for people and things.
  • Example: What did you do last night?  (Question)
      • I did my revision. (Response)
2. WHO
  • Used for people (Subject)
  • Example: Who are they? (Question)
      • They are my neighbours. (Response)
3. WHOM
  • Used for people (subject) is followed by a preposition.
  • Example: To whom should I pass this letter to? (Question)
      • The principal. (Response)
4. WHOSE
  • Used to show possession.
  • Example: Whose baby is crying? (Question)
      • It is mine. (Response)
5. WHICH
  • Used to make choice. The choice is limited and is used for people, animals, and things.
  • Example: Which house is yours? (Question)
      • The one with the red roof. (Response)
6. WHEN
  • Used to ask time / date / year.
  • Example: When  is your birthday? (Question)
      • Next month. (Response)
7. WHERE
  • Used for asking direction.
  • Example: Where is the canteen? (Question)
      • It is beside the hall. (Response)
8. WHY
  • Used for showing reason / cause. It is answered with 'because'.
  • Example: Why is the baby crying? (Question)
      • He is hungry. (Response)
9. HOW
  • Used for people, animals, and things.
  • Also used to show manner, action, amount, condition or situation, size or degree.
  • Example: How do they go to the school? (Question)
      • They walk to the school. (Response)
